Comme des Garçons for H&M – what do you think?

Commes_des_garcons

It’s no secret that The Fashion Police aren’t big fans of Comme des Garçons, but this collection for H&M is even harder for us to be objective about because let’s just be honest: we look at it, and all we can see is the harem pants. Now, regular readers already know how we feel about harem pants, so we’re going to say no more on this subject, and, instead, leave judgements on Rei Kawakubo’s designs for H&M up to you, readers. Fashionista have lots more pictures, to help you make your minds up…

I like the pink polka dotted shirt. Beyond that…for the love of God! I’m telling you…Joker chic – it’s the next big thing! These look just exactly like psycho killer clowns.

  2. Han says:

I look at it and all I can see is Tim Burton Movie Wear (and makeup). Even the Joker is better dressed than that!

  3. Han says:

My sister’s comment was “That’s worse than I’ve ever imagined pants being.”

  4. Cadi says:

    Do. Not. Want.

  5. Arielle says:

I believe what a person wears should enhance their appearance, rather than detract from it. That’s a fugly collection of clothing and I certainly would not wear it myself.

  6. JC says:

Sorry for a minute there I thought I was on the set of a horror movie…I cant quite decide whats more disturbing, the clothing or the models hair and makeup!
Whats with the psychotic expression on the middle one, thats enough to put anyone off the collection

  7. MeisjeMeisje says:

I think I just threw up, out of ugliness.

  8. KT says:

A little too evil-clown for my taste.

  9. peachfish says:

Jesus Christ that is some hideous fashion – it looks like goth clown college threw up.

  10. Danielle says:

    No thanks.

  11. Aparna says:

    They look positively evil.

  12. Natasha says:

Oh my. How very ugly… Now really, who do they think will buy this??

  13. Daisy says:

    NOOOOOooooooo….. *runs*

  14. Amanda says:

The only thing worse than witches is clowns.

  15. Alexandra says:

horrific. absolutely horrible. who would wear those?
could work for halloween I guess. scare the kiddies away ;)

  16. Kathleen says:

Perhaps the costume designer for “The Dark Knight” had input on these designs because they are very reminiscent of the Joker as other people have said.

  17. Brynn says:

I can see the polka dot shirts working really well if they were worn without the yucky pants. The hair and makeup is hideous…thank goodness they don’t expect us to buy that. The dress…the dress looks like a cheap Hot Topic knockoff of a nice japanese brand…that’s honestly what bothers me the most.

  18. mary hartley says:

omg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i would DIE if i had to wear this exspecaily the one in the middle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ewwww!!!!!!!!!!!! looks soooooooooo wrong !!!!!!!!!!!!! This is what i call the triple terrible triplets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so ugly !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  19. Paiton Goodwin says:

every time i see this picture i want to bang my head on the table and scream and cry like a little baby. omg this is horrible my eyes are burning dear god help us if this is what the world has come to!!!

  20. Jazz says:

So the circus IS back in town! I dread the idea of people actually walking around in those pants…though the sweaters and blazers aren’t bad. But the harem pants? WHY GOD?!

  21. kevie says:

    Umm…why?

  22. Am says:

I cant help thinking if it wasn’t for the dropped crotch pants and the frankly quite terrifying make-up this wouldn’t look half so bad. But maybe it is just because I woke up early to sunshine (at long last) and am feeling charitable today…? And have a DAY OFF work! (in the sunshine!!! wooohooo!)

  23. Ricki says:

I don’t think that line will be very commercial, because frankly it is ugly.
And really, who would pay good money to look like a sad, yet comical clown?
And wouldnt it also make one look fatter and more saggy.. just almost dead and gray.. oh yeah and a lil polka dotty.. Embarresing
    /Ricki

  24. You know, I’m really heartned by these comments, because sometimes I feel like the only person in the world who really doesn’t give a crap about the artistic merits of fashion, or the designer’s “vision” when the clothes will clearly make their wearer look like a demented clown. Which is clearly the case here.
As I said, I am very biased, because I don’t think Comme des Garcons have ever made *anything* I’ve liked, and this is no exception. I’ll be surprised if there’s a mad rush for this stuff – I think it will appeal only to those people who like to be experimental with fashion, and I don’t think that’s really applies to H&Ms usual target market.

  25. Amy Monster says:

I hate polka dots already — ugh. The model(s) remind me of creepy Oompa Loompas.

  27. mishie says:

The tops aren’t my style, but I think they’re actually acceptable. Everything else? NO.

  28. Baya says:

I personally adore the rebellious spirit of Comme des Garcons and love the idea of not subsiding to the sexiness obsession so profound in our culture.
This collection might not be for everyday but the clothes make a statement, let one stand out. I’m not loving the harem pants myself, but that’s a one off. All other pieces are spot on, like the deconstructed jackets and the dress is just the icing on the cake!
Believe it or not, the collection sold out in 15 munites!

  29. Wendy says:

I bought the harem pants. I love the harem pants. I know people will point and laugh. I dont care. They are such a funny shape. They make me smile. But I dont think I could dance in them.

  30. Jolanda says:

Hate the pants. But I love the blouses, shirts and blazers though!

  31. Aino says:

….. when the clothes will clearly make their wearer look like a demented clown. Which is clearly the case here…..
Untrue, because this opinion is clearly based on the photo that is posted with this article.
I’ve seen many women wearing Rei’s clothing and they look normal.
And calling someone a demented clown is an insult to relatives of people who are dememted. Keep comments like this to yourself.

  32. pcgossip says:

Gross. Those “harem pants” look like the hanging skin someone would have after lipo if they didn’t get their skin tightened after wards. I saw some people in Europe wearing these. It can work on the extremely tall, high fashion looking types. For the rest of us…let’s agree to pass.

  33. Diandra says:

I like some of the pieces actually, but I think it’s the way they’re worn here that’s bothering people. Scary looking models and drop-crotch pants won’t exactly sell the clothes! (I like harem pants, but not drop-crotch pants, they make everyone look weird and they don’t even look that comfortable!)
