Wear or Die! 80s fashion

80s_fashion

We’re pleased to say that after our plea for help last week, some of you decided to take pity on your poor Fashion Police, and submit some Wear or Die outfits for us to torture you all with.

This week’s submissions come from Han, so you have her to blame for the fact that today you’re going back to the 80s, wearing either an acid wash 80s jumpsuit (left) or… a pink 80s jumpsuit (right). Neither are exactly what you’d call “attractive”, but of course, that’s not what Wear or Die is about, so if you’d kindly choose one of these fine items to wear, at least you know you’ll be able to escape death for one more week.

Which outfit would you choose if you had to wear one, or die? Answers in the comments box…

Oh, god. Those are two… erm… very special items. After some careful and reluctant thought, I think I’d go with the acid-wash jumpsuit (shudder). I don’t like it but I’d feel less like I was wearing fluorescent overalls, the effect I feel that would come of wearing the other one. I prefer the fact that the acid-wash jumpsuit has short legs. I guess it MIGHT pass as ‘cute’. Maybe. If I walked around looking a bit embarrassed and sheepish.

  2. Happy Birthday says:

Huuumm….. It’s a hard one, I would love to try both on and rock around my flat blaring blondie out of the stereo, as for leaving the house? Might also go with the denim… I think jumpsuits are great though, just the more up to date tailored ones, check out the one I just got from shopgoldyn.com, by Rachel Mara, i love it, and feel it has the right balance.

  3. Jazz says:

The pink one. I have something against acid wash. But you might be able to make the pink one look kind of okay with patent black heels, studded belt, and funky accessories. They can be saved. Sorta.

  4. Am says:

I do freelance work for someone who claims to have invented acid wash denim. Quite why he is so proud of this is totally beyond me! But, having said that I’d prefer to wear the acid wash number here, than the pink (red?) one.

  5. gokarm says:

Well, both are hideous, but The red one is more or less “fashionable” now…if we’re to take Topshop’s word for it so…that one. With proper accessories, of course!

  6. Kelly says:

Ugh. I’d do #1, not without a few tears, only because I think it would show off my small waist. And in something as atrocious as these two, I have to have SOMETHING going for me!

  7. Noël says:

I know it’s wrong, but I really have this thing going on right now with acid-wash. I would mos definitely wear choice 1! Agghk!

  8. Alexia says:

I’d have to go for the acid wash 80s jumpsuit. But honestly, this is the hardest choice so far. They are both horrible.

  9. Margot says:

Did you steal those from Chloe Sevigny?
Sorry to call you out on your hip-ness FashPo, but sadly, club kids are slowly finding clothes such as this to be acceptable Friday night outfits.

  10. Janers says:

#1 with a black lower cut tank, legs cuffed higher (thigh), paint the buttons black, and add a thick black belt. Pair with a red Marc Jacobs Stam bag and red lipstick & nails.

  11. cortnie says:

I actually like the jumper and would completely rock it. It could be very fashion forward fabulous with the ensemble that Margot described

  12. Chica says:

I hate acid wash with a passion so it’s the fugly pink one for me.

  13. Yes, these two choices really made me shudder – thanks again to Han for sending them in!
For me, as much as I hate acid wash (and I hate acid wash with a fiery passion, believe me), my red hair would clash so horribly with the pink/red thing that I’d have to go with the denim. I’d wear a wide waist belt over the top, to try and hide as much of it as possible, and a boyfriend cardi, for the same reasons. And I would avoid all mirrors, cameras, and, er, other people.

  14. Angela says:

I’d wear number one, but turn up the legs to make them shorter, waist belt, and i’d pin the v-neck across a little more so that I could wear it without a top underneath… and team it with a tan and killer heals!

  15. marian says:

i’d wear the pink. with neon socks. high top sneakers. rainbow neon ribbons in my hair – probably accompanying ponytails. and the strap to the overall portion on one end hanging down to reveal my “i <3 joey lawrence" t-shirt hanging out underneath.
and then i'd tell people i was off to a "kids incorporated" marathon that Fergie and J.LoveHewitt were hosting. and i'd be sure to be plastered as well.

  16. sue says:

both are terrible, but i’ll pick the 1st one.

  17. Tiffy says:

I think I’d take the pink one, but I’m having a really hard time choosing on this one.

  18. Emily says:

God…um…definetely the acid wash jumpsuit, I am all for fluro..but that other one is just hideous and I find the acid wash number just a helluva lot more appealing…you might be able to save it with a belt and gold accesories or something…:S

  19. Diandra says:

Definitely the denim one. It might actually be kind of cute with a nice red belt maybe?
The pink one is just unflattering and strange-looking.
