Fashion Trends: summer scarves

Summer_scarves

What does everyone think of the current trend for summer scarves? Of course, there have always been people who’ve worn scarves in summer, but this year they’ve been popping up on every second person, including many a celebrity neck. Jessica Alba, for instance, is seen above wearing the ‘Karma’ scarf by Sir Alistair Rai, whose Buddhist and Hindu prayer scarves have been popular with the celebs this year.

These scarves come in at around about the $100 mark (and above), but of course, there are cheaper scarves available on the high street, in every kind of shape, style and pattern imaginable. The one on the top left of our picture is £15 from Topshop, but summer scarves are being stocked just about everywhere right now.

Personally, we love this look: it’s a good way to add some interest to a simple outfit, and Fashion Police HQ is based in a climate where the scarves actually have some function in summer, as well as being simple fashion accessories, too.

What do you think of this look?

I’ve tried this, because I like the look of a ratty old summer scarf but once I step out the air conditioned room into the summer heat, that ratty old piece of fabric becomes a torture device that i promptly dispose of…I don’t think it’s for me.

First designer keffiyahs, now designer prayer scarves? Oh lord, when will this pseudo-bohemian madness end!

I like them. But on other people, I seem to always look like a fool in a scarf – don’t ask me why, I just do!

I bought one, but I think it’s just silly to wear a scarf in the summer. I’m saving it for autumn, when it will be cool enough that I won’t be insane for wearing it (but not so cold that I need a more heavy-duty scarf)

Hate the trend. Whenever I see something like this, my mind instantly conjures an image of Yasser Arafat!
I’m really not into boho chic, and this reeks of boho.

I WISH I could wear scarves all summer. If you live anyplace hot and humid, then lightweight scarves are reserved for spring, fall, and air conditioning.

Far too hot in Northern California for scarves. No thank you.

I hail from Canada, where the weather is cold and itchy wool scarves hand-knit by your Gran are forced upon you from a very young age by your mother, and you grow to loathe scarves rather quickly.
I’ve rekindled my love for a nice cashmere scarf, but I don’t think they belong outside on a hot day. If you’re in a chilly climate, perhaps – but not in Hollywood.

I was never a year-round scarf person until this summer, and it all started with a cute one I found and I now have a ridiculous collection. I think they ooze casual cool, and the best part is you don’t have blow a bundle of money to get the look; thrift stores have tons in all sizes and styles, and almost always for under $2.
Also, as a Vancouver resident, the scarf is a great way to layer when it’s not quite hot but not quite cold, either.

I like this style a lot! I’ve been dying to buy one. I know I’m a little late on the summer thing, but I’m really poor!!! I think it’s a good, practical style. I like it too because it protects your throat, and I’m all about that because I’m a vocal music major.

I’ve seen this everywhere lately! OMG what is with these women wearing dog scarfs? You know bandanas that dogs wear around thier necks do not belong on us girls. All you have to do is look in the mirror then at your dog, if you look alike theres something wrong!

I don’t see anything wrong with wearing scarves during the summer months and most people I have seen wearing them look fab! Scarves “it’s a good way to add some interest to a simple outfit” and summer time is not out of it.
