Toshop’s side-fringed jeans: the start of a new trend?
With skinnies now apparently settled in for the long-haul, and high waists on the way out, it’s time for denim designers to come up with a new style of jean to plague us all with. We just really, really hope this isn’t it. As far as we’re concerned, fringes are largely the preserve of frustrated cowgirls and country line dancers. That’s not to say they can’t look good on the rest of us, too, because we’re sure we can, on the right piece. All we’re saying is that we don’t think these black skinnies are the right piece. Why would you want your legs to look like they had beards, after all? And what kind of occasion demands fringed jeans, we wonder?
What do you think? Is this is the fringed shape of things to come, or will they be going straight to Fashion Police jail?
Um, no. I definitely would not wear these. And I may be shot for saying this, but I hate fringe. Anytime, anywhere.
There’s a reason why I wear pants when I haven’t shaved my legs in a few weeks. I don’t need to wear the hair on the outside as well!
Umm, I rather like them. I can see them working for evening under a decadent 20s styled tunic – a modern, tough, biker chick take on a flapper look.

The only time I’ve seen these work is in dance shows, where the fringes accentuate any hip movements. Of course, in that case they use slightly longer fringes that have a bit of weight.
Do I think fringe jeans work in a less extravagant setting? No.
Amanda, I kind of hate fringes too, I’ve never met a fringed item I liked, although who knows, maybe there’s one out there.
Although actually, yes, Cristina is right – on dancers, fringes can look good, so maybe Caroline’s flapper girl idea could work too…
