Style on Trial: River Island’s circle print dress

river island dress Style on Trial: River Islands circle print dress

We’ve been having some technical difficulties here at Fashion Police HQ this morning, folks (Internet connection slow, fashion criminal prisoner escaping, that sort of thing), so to keep you busy while we’re getting things in order and hunting down some new crimes to horrify you, we’re sticking this River Island circle print dress in the dock, so that you, the jury, can decide its fate.

When we first found this, we knew instinctively that it just wasn’t our style, but we’re feeling lenient today (that’s what happens when the sun makes a rare appearance around these here parts) and we’re not sure we’d call it a fashion crime either, so we’re going to leave that decision up to you.

What do you think, Fashion Jurors: is this dress guilty or innocent of crimes against fashion?

  1. It’s a crime. The patterned red areas remind me of lab slides showing some very bad disease. Wearing this dress would not make me happy. Please call the authorities and have it removed at once!

  2. hate to disagree with everyone, but I think this dress is wayyyyy cuter than the dress of the day (which looks like a bad prom dress cut short)!!!!! Not that this dress is really my style, but I would rather wear it than that white piece of crap!

  3. I totally agree with Sarah. The dress of the day is not nicer than this is. You could be mistaken for a wall embellishment if you stood at the wrong place in that thing.
I don’t think this dress is particularity safe for the masses, but I think it would be cute on a tall skinny (ie: model) girl. It’s more mod than bad. With the right earrings and shoes (boots?), this piece is fine. But not if you’re short. Or pudgy. Ever.
