Dress of the Day: Donna Karan embroidered dress
We had quite a lot to say about this Donna Karan embroidered dress, but we have to admit that all coherent thought went flying right out of our heads when we looked at the £4595 price. Four. Thousand. Five. Hundred. And. Ninety. Five. Pounds. That’s not a kick in the ass off $10,000 for those of you across the Atlantic, and sure, this is a pretty dress, but FOUR THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS?! Seriously? So while we were going to say how much we like the wide waistband and pretty gold fabric, we find that all we want to say now is that, actually, we don’t think ANY dress is worth that amount of money, and, in fact, we’re wondering if the price might actually make this a Crime of Fashion of a different kind. Feel free to discuss.
So, is the dress actually made out of gold, spun into thread and fabric?
£5k? £5k?!?!
It’s a beeeeautiful dress but it’s 4 times what I paid for my car so…..
it’s not /that/ beautiful
I can’t help thinking if I did have that kind of money to spend on a dress, then I would probably spend it on this one! But sadly I don’t, so…
I think that if money was no object then I would buy it. But in saying that, if you spend that much money on a dress, you want it to look like you spent that much money. Although this dress is very nice, it doesn’t look like it should cost anymore than about 100-200 pounds.
I guess it’s not so much a Crime of Fashion but a mere Sin to pay that amount for a dress (for any item of clothing actually). Someone who has the funds to pay this dress should rather go for a cheaper dress and donate the rest of the money to some good cause, methinks.
That thing better be made of the souls of angels.
Made of the souls of angels AND instantly makes you look like you lost 20 pounds. Sadly I already know that cut of dress does nothing but make my hips and butt look HUGE.
I do like it, but yeap, it´s TOO much for a clothing item..
If I had the money I so would not donate it to some charity or whatsit but would indeed buy this dress, but then again I don’t have it so whatever:D
I’m not feeling it, personally. It looks like we’re being asked to pay for:
1) A collage of Grandma’s old yellowed underwear.
2) And her funeral costs.
