Style on Trial: thong sandals with a difference

Thongsandals No shoes? No problem! Just warp an old sack around your foot, tie at the ankle, and you’re good to go!

Well, that’s what these Riley sandals from Bakers look like to us, anyway – kind of "cavewoman chic", only without the "chic" bit.

They may not seem that way to you, though, of course, and given that it is Friday afternoon, the sun is out and the wine is chilling in the fridge, we’ve decided to be generous and put these up On Trial, rather than just consigning them instantly to the Fashion Police jail.

Their fate is in your hands, readers: are they a fashion crime or are they damn fine?

    No brainer – CRIME.
Put them in the same cell as high leg gladiator sandals…

  5. Kaitlin says:

I’d rather go barefoot. On glass.

This is nothing. Have you seen Pierre Hardy’s thong/boots? That’s the shit! I have a picture, but can’t attache it, unfortunately.

I love these! They give you the best of both worlds!

  10. Kate says:

Hmm…I know I’m in the minority here, but I actually think they’re rather cute. I’d wear ‘em with an olive green shirtdress. Yup.
…well, I would if I were the type of person to ever wear heeled sandals and olive green shirtdresses, that is :-D

Every fashion girl has at least one pair of these kind of sandal-boots here in Brazil. There are sooooooo beautiful models with or without hells and looks absolutely fantastic with modern dresses or shorts!!

  12. Mary says:

I just ordered these in all 3 colors. I thought they looked absolutely fine! They give you the best of both worlds, unique and only 3 1/4 inch – beats all those either completely flat & ugly heels or high 4 inchers that kill you! I’m looking forward to trying these and I’ll report back. So far…they look like keepers. Something I’d definitely buy just because they’re the perfect heel size and because they’re DIFFERENT from any thing else I’ve seen.

  13. Joyce Tezeno says:

Hey, I have not committed just yet!!! but these are so cute. And very “unique” but a liitle pricey. I love unique …but I’m a bargain shopper, so the price is not right for me. Does anyone know where these can be purchase for less?

  14. Isa says:

This might be the most appalling thing I have ever seen in my life. Burn them. Burn them all.

    Hallo.
I can say that my wife usually wears (at work, too) thong boots very similar to this.
