Multi-functional fashion: poncho/ toilet protector
Way the hell back in the 70s, and possibly in other eras too, for all we know, there was a "fashion" for decorating your bathroom with matching sets of fug. Knitted toilet seat covers were perhaps the most puzzling of these items (Because, why? Why does your toilet seat need a cover? Does it get cold? Does it get lonely? Again: WHY?), but the most disgusting of the set by far was the floor "protector", which fitted around the base of the toilet, and was used to catch any "drips" that should fall on it. We’re feeling slightly sick just thinking about this. Sorry.
We have no idea what these items were actually called, of course, but what we do know is that this poncho looks just like one.
And now we feel really sick…
We still use those “floor protectors” in America. And this poncho looks like the one i have in my downstairs bathroom.
Those protectors are HORRID… and the PONCHO too.
Floor covers I can see, because I don’t like to have cold feet when I’m going to the bathroom, and it makes it easier to erm.. clean after men use the toilet, but covers? Never understood them.
Looks as though it came from one of those pamphlets that show items made with only one skein of yarn–and the items are generally inexplicable. Somewhere a lonely tank cover is missing its mate.
