Dress of the Day: Marc by Marc Jacobs Alessandra pussy bow dress

Marc_by_marc_jacobs_dress Pussy bow necklines just scream "sexy secretary from the 70s!", but The Fashion Police are clearly OK with that, because we’re making this Marc by Marc Jacobs dress our Dress of the Day on this sunny Thursday, pussy bow and all.

This is a dress that really needs to be viewed on the model/mannequin to get the full, 70s-tastic effect of it. In person, the skirt is shorter and more A-lined than it looks in this picture, and the patch pockets and general 70s vibe makes it look like it just got done serving up fondue while standing on a shagpile carpet. Net-a-Porter describe it as "air hostess chic" and… actually, we may be starting to talk ourselves out of now, with all this talk of the decade that style forgot.

What do you think of it, readers? If you like it, you can buy it for £325 at Net-a-Porter .

It’s nice and all but I’m not so into the zipper on the back of the dress..
I mean, why is it there (like that)? Is that a whole part of the 70’s look? Could do without it..

I don’t like it very much. Actually I think it’s horrible – you can’t tell in a photograph but it looks quite cheap (not saying it is, just that it looks it). Veronika you are right, the zipper up the back is horrendous – looks like a mistake!

Well I love it, and personally think that the zipper adds to it, and that style of zip has been seen on a lot of dresses and skirts that i like at the moment.

tell me now why its called a pussy bow?!!?
