The MET Costume Institute Gala 2008: Kate Bosworth

Amid all of the long gowns and coiffed hairdos at last night’s Costume Institute Gala, Kate Bosworth stood out like only a woman in bright blue eyeshadow can. We’re not quite sure what to make of her short, sequined dress (other than wanting to offer to fix the hem for her), but we know we hate the plastic strapped shoes. We secretly (OK, not so secretly, then) quite like the blue eyeshadow, though…

  1. Yes, I think the eyeshadow is OK with the colour of the hair, but the drees is ugly and the shoes, ew.

  2. Well, for me, this Chanel Haute Couture dress spells Kate Bosworth pretty neatly. It’s HER! Just appreciating her for being different all the time!

  3. I think if the hem had been even and she had worn different shoes, I would probably love this outfit, because I already love her eyeshadow. But I just want to take a pair of scissors and cut that little jagged bit off the bottom of the dress.

  4. They eyeshadow is very 70s. I wore almost that exact same color (and density) in high school back then. The shoes, however, should never exist in any decade. Ever.

  5. unfortunately not a clue, she looks amazing. a little unexpected creative edge. and color. no criticism allowed. you go kate. badass.

  6. I think she pulls this off actually – and I love the eyeshadow. The neckline and hemline make the dress more interesting and add to the overall unconventional look. If the hem was just straight I don’t think it would work as well.
I’m not convinced about the shoes but from the ankles up she looks stunning!

  7. LSD inspired “hot mess”
the shadow isn’t half bad, the dress, eh, a little too: Gustav Klimt meets the Golden Girls meets a pair of scissors…
    those shoes must die however
