We don’t know why, but there’s something about this Marni handbag from Net-a-Porter Style on Trial: Marni ruffle heart handbag that strikes us as just a little… creepy. We think it might because all of those red ruffles make us think of fungus, or someone’s internal organs or something else equally unlikely to be toted around on our arms. Net-a-Porter, on the other hand, are describing it as "an unexpected delight", so we’re going to just assume that we have unusually twisted imaginations this morning, and put it up on trial. What do you think: some kind of weird fungal infection gone wrong, or an utterly inspired piece of handbag design?

  1. Mmh. Seems like one of those ‘one-trick ponies’ or however that saying goes. It doesn’t seem very versatile as it looks as if it can only pair up very selectively with clothes.
Haha. But somehow I can envision Sarah Jessica Parker from Sex in the City carrying something like that with an outrageously cute dress.
    But a one-trick pony nonetheless!

  2. It looks too much like a sea-dwelling nudibranch to be taken seriously as a purse. In fact, it looks almost exactly like the one in the attached link.

  3. I think perhaps it depends on the person carrying it. If the person carrying it is the kind of person that brings to mind flowers and petals and pretty things (http://z.about.com/d/movies/1/0/F/a/Q/enchantedprem5.jpg)
then it’s fantastic. But if the person carrying it usually wears ugly stuff usually (http://www.exposay.com/celebrity-photos/amy-winehouse-2007-brit-awards-arrivals-fHa0mh.jpg)
it’s pretty terrible. If you can pull it off, please do, but if you can’t please don’t, eh?

  4. I don’t mind it. def a sjp thing… if you have the right look and confidence, it would prob look quite chic. don’t think the handle really goes well with the soft ‘petal’ characteristics though…
