Bag, Borrow or Steal: Would you hire a designer handbag?

Prada_handbag Designer handbags: so pretty, and so, so out of our price range most of the time. Sigh.

There is an answer to the eternal conundrum of how to get yourself a genuine designer handbag for less than you spend on rent every week, and that answer comes in the shape of Bag Borrow or Steal.

This company have been around for a while now, and the premise is simple: they hire out designer handbags, plus a smattering of other accessories, so you get the use of the handbag of your dreams for a week, a month or as long as you like. And if you decide you love it so much you can’t bear to part with it, you can choose to buy it too.

You can choose to borrow as a member or as a guest, so in the case of Prada’s Small Rose Satchel, above, your cost would be  £77.00/week or £225.00/month as a member and £111.00/week or £291.00/month as a guest. The company stock bags from the likes of Chanel, Gucci, Fendi, Balenciaga and more, so you’re pretty much spoiled for choice, too.

Our question, then, is this: would you hire a designer handbag? Does this seem like a good idea to you, or would you rather just save up the rental fees every month and buy it for yourself?

I considered that company once, but I eventually concluded that at that price I’d rather be able to buy the purse. That way its never been used and I can keep it.

I wouldn’t even spend $77 on a purse to keep, let alone 77 pounds to rent one for a week.
Designer bags just aren’t my thing.
