They’re back. Yes, folks, we’ve reached that time of the year when someone in a design studio far, far away says to themselves, "Hey! You know what would totally rock for summer? Playsuits, that’s what! Because playsuits allow grown women to dress like toddlers, and there’s absolutely nothing strange about that AT ALL." But is there?
The Fashion Police thinking on this is, like most of our thinking, simple. If the playsuit in question is a block colour, and particularly if it’s black, like the Debenhams one, above, then yes, we think we could see our way clear to wearing it. We’d wear it with huge sunglasses and a pair of peep toes, and we wouldn’t even care that our shirt was attached to or pants. If the playsuit has lots of colours, though, like River Island’s, on the right? It would feel unacceptably "toddler-like" to us, and we’d have to say "no", although we would quite like it as a top, if River Island wouldn’t mind obliging us with that.
What about you? Do you have any rules regarding playsuits, or do you just like to fly by the seat of your multicoloured pants because the rule is that there are no rules?
