Fashion Trends: Gladiator sandals

gladiator style Fashion Trends: Gladiator sandals

We touched on this yesterday, but just in case you thought we were joking when we said this year’s most ubiquitous shoe would be the gladiator sandal, here’s the proof that we weren’t. It’s pretty hard to visit a shoe store at the moment without seeing a pair of gladiators staring you in the face: whether they’re stiletto heeled (Just like the real gladiators used to wear!), traditional flats or winding way the hell up the leg, there’s definitely plenty of them around – just see the image above if you still don’t believe us. Mary-Kate Olsen loves them, but do you? Will you be getting some gladiators for summer, or will you just be glad to see the back of them when winter rolls around?

  1. I think the simpler ones are cute. The ones that go half way up your leg or have heels are horrid, but I like some of the others.

  2. Thank you for finally covering this topic of horror! Even if you are so inclined to relish in this unfortunate trend, my guess, er hope, is it will be long gone by next season, so don’t waste your $$$$$. There is nothing sexy or flattering to be found here which means its on its way to the crapper.

  3. I still have mine from last summer. I bought the simplest one that is dirt cheap:) I see it as disposable fashion and it cost only $8!

  4. I hated them last summer but lately I’ve been looking forward to the day when it stops being freezing cold and rainy in Seattle (i.e. never) so that I can get a pair of the plainer kinds, like 2 or 4. I agree with Alicia above: the simpler ones are cute, but with heels or winding too far up the leg its just ugly.
