It pains me to say it, but New York Fashion Week this year has been a little on the uninspiring side. Not too many fashion crimes, to be sure, but not too much to make our jaws drop and our keyboards get covered with drool, either.

In fact, it took a long time tonight even to find a Dress of the Day from the New York catwalks, and in the end I’ve picked this one, not because the dress is particularly spectacular, but because the Temperley show was one of my favourites. All those smoky eyes and shiny hair, and all those thigh-high leather boots worn with floaty fabrics. with the odd leather pencil skirt thrown in. It was glamorous and gorgeous, so Alice Temperley wins the Dress of Day position by default.
