Watching the ShopBop Models

Theredhairedone I have a little game I like to play when I’m bored. I call it "Watching the ShopBop Models," and, well, it’s pretty self-explanatory, really. I love the ShopBop models. They manage to express the full range of emotions, from surly to … slightly surlier, and I like to imagine that they’re somehow contriving to convey to us with the slump of a shoulder or glaze of an eye what they really think of some of the clothes they’re forced into.

This is why I was particularly pleased to receive a link to this image from Meg of The Bargain Queens, featuring The Red Haired One (who is my favourite ShopBop model) wearing what Meg describes as a particularly "ticked off" expression, and which I would have to concur with. You just know that The Red Haired One is thinking, "Hell, they’ve put me in a pleather bolero and t-shirt. I hope they die," don’t you?

ShopBop say: "This is a brilliant design, unlike anything we’ve ever seen before."

Well, I guess that’s one way of putting it…

The redhead is my favorite shopbop model too but where is she lately? The tshirt and pleather bolero aren’t my cup of tea either but the redhead pulls it off as usual.

  2. Beth – you’re right, I haven’t seen her lately, either. Don’t worry, though – if she’s left Shopbop we’ll start a campaign to bring her back!

elana, the redheaded ruby as i like to call her, is apparently very popular…http://secondcitystyle.typepad.com/second_city_style/2007/07/shopping-onli-1.html

  4. Thanks for the concurring and for featuring this photo. That bolero has been haunting me, and there’s something so relieving about seeing it here, where it belongs — like the evil spell has been broken.
Jen, thanks for sharing the link. I wonder if she knows how popular she is.
She’s certainly my favorite model — and I see a lot of models while bargain hunting online. I’d love to meet her in person, if only to pick her brain about what she really was thinking in this and that shot. What a shame that they didn’t even do her hair justice in this one!

Omg I totally adore this model. She’s not been on shopbops site recently and it’s been a real bummer—I was so used to seeing her pop up in my emails and on the “whats new” that I’ve lost some exitement for the site. Where is she?

  7. Mr. N says:

I personally like her. She is pretty.
