Fashion Trends: Oversized Clutches

Oversizedclutches

Clutch bags: they’re not just for night time any more, and here at Fashion Police HQ, we’re very pleased to hear it. Clutch bags rock our world: as well as being elegant to look at themselves, they force you to carry yourself more elegantly too, rather than hunching up under a heavy shoulder bag. True, they may not be as practical as other styles for daytime use, but for those days when you don’t have to lug around the kitchen sink with you, an oversized, daytime clutch will instantly smarten up your outfit. (Plus, if we cared about being practical, we’d be walking around in Crocs right now…)

Here’s Ashlee Simpson at the Cloverfield premiere last night, with a new hairdo, a chic pink coat and … and oversized clutch! On the right of the picture, meanwhile, we have Topshop’s Patent oversized clutch bag, £35, Fendi’s ‘Love Letter‘ oversized clucth, £560, and Steven by Steve Madden’s oversized clutch, $125.06.

I would like to add that Primark have brought out a gorgeous over sized clutch, vintage looking in dark blue or black faux suede with patent detail. I think it is £4 and it store now.

  2. Really? I’m so there, then – I’ve been eyeing the Topshop one for ages, but I can’t really justify the expense right after Christmas :(

  3. Polly says:

I’ve just been in and they have sold out of my branch but its an ‘A’ store (fuck yeah) and so they will probably get more. If you don’t have any luck, let me know X

  4. Got one! Well, I don’t think it’s actually the same one you mean, Polly, because it was on sale for £1 (!) but it’ll do for me….Was quite pleased because I didn’t think I’d be able to get to Primark for ages, but I went to Ikea on Sunday (rock n’ roll!) and there was one opposite it. Result :)
