Abercrombie & Fitch double their prices in the UK. Fashion Police not impressed.

I realise I’m probably opening myself up to a whole world of absuse with this admission, but I actually quite like Abercrombie & Fitch – mostly because I seem to spend most of my life on a never ending quest for jeans that actually fit me, and Abercrombie’s are one of the few that do. I’m not a fan of logos at all, but aside from the denim, they also make some cute camis and tank tops and hey, a girl can never have enough vests, can she?

With all of that said, however, I have to announce that I will not be shopping from Abercrombie’s new UK website. Why? Because the stock there is literally double the price it is in the US – even although it’s selling exactly the same items. And I can’t help thinking that sucks.

Just to make matters worse, I can’t even access the US site any more from here – it just redirects to, which makes price comparison tricky, but from memory (and you can correct me if I’m wrong here), a standard hoodie is about $60 on the US site. In the UK? £60. Which is about $120, just in case you’re wondering. The ‘Erin’ skinny jeans I’ve been coveting? £80 – about $160. As I said, I can no longer check how much they’re selling for in the States, but I’m guessing it’s significantly less than that, right?

Don’t get me wrong: I could understand a slightly inflated price. Things do tend to cost more here in the UK, and Abercrombie have had the expense of setting up a new website, bringing their stock into the country and also opening their new flagship London store. But to literally double the price? Well, that just makes me feel like I’m being ripped off, to be honest. And it also makes me pretty certain that I won’t be buying those jeans, no matter how much I like them.
