Style on Trial: Skinny jeans with over-the-knee boots, Kate Moss style

Katemossstyle

Where I come, you can’t get away with wearing over-the-knee boots unless you really are a hooker with a heart of gold. Mind you, saying that, where I come from sportswear is considered appropriate attire for everything from your child’s christening to his first court appearance, so that’s not really saying much. Still, as we know all too well, where Kate Moss leads, the Fashion Victims are sure to follow, so maybe it’s just a matter of time before this look catches on.

Lately Kate’s been seen on a few occasions wearing super-tight skinny jeans and equally tight over-the-knee boots. Now, personally I reckon you’d need to have legs like… well, like Kate Moss, basically… to be able to get away with this look, but I’m wondering what everyone thinks of it? With the white jeans I think Kate looks like she’s off to dressage (who knows, maybe she’s channeling Tatum O’Neal in International Velvet? God, I loved that film), but there’s something quite sharp about the look that I like. Loving the ubiquitous tuxedo jacket, too. In the first picture, she’s working another current trend – the checked shirt – for a more casual look.

Enough about Kate Moss, though: what I want to know is would you wear this look?

If I was a size 8 or less I’d do this look for going out. It just wouldn’t like right on someone over a size 8 due to the skinnyness or the jeans and boots combo. I’m sadly a 10 and not prepared to get down the gym just to try this look.

The one on the right is nice, but I’m too short for those boots.
Kate Moss should know better than to go out before cleaning her shoes!

  3. Karen says:

I’m a naturally slim size 6, and would love a pair of suede boots slim enough to fit my legs like that. Any ideas where I could get a pair??

I’ve been lusting after this look since I first saw Kate Moss rocking it, and only yesterday finally snagged the perfect boots. And hell yeah I’m going to wear them over my sass + bide frayed misfits with a tux jacket! I’m an AU 8 (used to be a 6 but hey, we can’t be 17 forever) with yoga legs – you probably wouldn’t want to wear this look if you were a 12, but then, the boots probably wouldn’t fit around a size 12 thigh, so you wouldn’t have to worry about risking a fashion faux pas.
Also, I think La Moss wears her boots dirty nonchalantly and on purpose – it’s usually a sign you’ve been traipsing around the dusty streets of Paris!

I honestly think they’re too high :/ It almost looks like she’s wearing shorts, not skinny jeans.

  6. Alisha says:

10 isn’t bigger but i guess it depends on your height to shoe size ratio. I use to think my feet were huge i’m almost 5′7″ and wear a 9 womens but they really don’t look that big in pictures I realized.

  7. sue says:

No, the boots are too high.
