On Trial: Marc Jacobs’ surreal shoes, fresh from New York Fashion Week

Marcjacobsshoe

The heel’s attached to the toe and the back of the shoe’s suspended in mid-air, but while I know I should hate these, there’s just something about them that makes me want to keep staring at them. Marc Jacobs sent his models down the catwalk in shoes like these at New York Fashion week, almost eclipsing the actual clothes. Probably the kind of thing you’d want to put on your mantlepiece as opposed to on your feet: I won’t be rushing out to buy these when they’re available, but I still can’t. stop. looking. at. them. And you?

You can’t look away the way you can’t look away from a horrible car accident.
Yes, in a surreal, da-da sort of way they are amusing, but there’s no call to be considering them something to wear on ones feet.

Typical fashion/art. Very creative and interesting but as a shoe? Not sure…

Intriguing to look at, but I wouldn’t want to try to walk in them. That’s a faceplant and a sprained ankle waiting to happen. I agree there’s something captivating about it, though.

I guess I can’t stop looking at them because I try to imagine what it’d look like if I turned the picture so that the heel would be in its right place. They’re beautiful though..

Do they collapse under 9 stones?

Oh God, i think i just threw up in my mouth a little… tacky, ugly, looks like a manufacturer efect, and they’re are trying to pass it off as “the new thing”

I think they look cute but it is not something I would try and wear.

i don’t know what’s up with all these haters, but these shoes are so beyond awesome. i would so buy the fuchsia satin ones with the sphere bauble if i had hundreds of dollars to spend. i want these shoes sooo much!!

I… don’t know. I can’t really decide whether I hate them or not but I’d be terrified to walk in them. It just looks like the back of the shoe might break at any second and send you tumbling backwards.
