It doesnt matter what you look like, as long as you're happy.
I envy Beth Ditto.

Whats funny about this is that there’s a Weight Watchers ad at the bottom of the page.

It doesnt matter what you look like, as long as you’re happy.

I envy Beth Ditto.

By: sue

<guid

I'm not going to get into a debate about body weight and all that jazz because it's all been said and done. Though I agree with Em that just because you're not a size 6 doesn't mean you're grotesquely fat. Still...when one is bigger wearing a skin tight metallic body suit is not the best of ideas. It's not even a good idea if you are a size 6...cause that stuff is unforgiving as hell.

Wow…That’s quite the outfit. It's the ultimate "I-don't-give-a-damn-about-this-beauty-tyranny". But I agree about the hyping up weightissues. Healthy is the word.

Props for actually putting it on and actually letting herself be photographed like this. As a six foot tall woman who's a fit, healthy size 14, (No, seriously, I'm all bone and muscle and still a 14.) I'm just happy to see someone above a 6 not being regularly called a fat cow.
The jumpsuit however, is heinous and should be burned immediately.

Honestly, I think both Ditto and the typical skinny ladies ARE real women. I actually think Beth Ditto seems like a pretty interesting woman, and in many ways, I admire her. I think women of all shapes and sizes can be beautiful, but I really dislike the way the media in the UK is currently championing the overweight by denigtrating slim women.
The fact is that Beth Ditto's body type is not healthy, and is not something women should be encouraged to emulate, any more than they should be enouraged to emulate Keira Knightley's emaciated form. Lately the media in the UK have adopted Beth as something of a role model, though, claiming that this is what "real" women look like, and I just wish there could be a happy medium, where women were encouraged to be HEALTHY - not to starve themself to attain some impossible ideal, or, indeed to think that being overweight is something to be proud of, because Beth Ditto says so.

I totally agree, Virgina. I've had overweight problems (not to this extent though), and I won't let anyone tell me that they're happy with their "few" extra pounds, nor that this a healthy body type. Let's remind everyone that indeed women come in all sizes and shapes, but with a balanced diet and regular physical exercise (which are the key to a healthy body) you just can't be like this (nor like dear Keira, as a matter of fact).. Unless you have serious health problems, heavy medication etc., which of course excuses it all. And regarding the quirky shiny jumpsuit, I just don't even want to get into details, I'll just say I don't think I ever saw anyone looking worse, since the Bill Cosby Show, not even Britney.
Take care,
Virginia

Dear Amber,<br
