Fighting crimes of fashion is tiring work, so we’re off to lie in the sun for two week and capture fashion criminals on a different continent. While we’re gone, keep on sending us your crime of fashion pictures , vote in our high street fashion poll and, if you want to vote for us in the Blogger’s Choice Awards, well, that would be nice too!
Email subscribers please note: Due to some problems with our software, when we come back we will no longer be offering email updates to the site – why not subscribe via RSS instead?

In a bid to find out which retailer is the most fabulously fashionable on the UK High Street (sorry, those of you not in the UK – your turn will come soon!), this week we’d like to know which is your favourite UK high street store. Where do you shop most often, and what is it that makes this store your favourite? We’ve set up a poll for your votes, but we’re also interested in finding out why you’ve voted the way you have, so please feel free to drop us a comment, too!
Vote now! Look under the jump for the poll!

River Island sometimes get a bit of a bum rap from people, who normally criticise them for being filled to the brim with tacky, "sparkly" clothes. I don’t really get this criticism. Sure, they have been known to cause the odd "what the hell is that?!" moment, but they make good quality basics, the best jeans in town (I would have been lost this summer without my River Island black skinnies), some fabulous shoes , and high quality leather handbags at reasonably affordable prices. What’s not to like?
A case in point is this tan leather shoulder bag which they’re currently selling for £59.99. OK, it’s taken a bit of a beating with the "designer inspired" stick, but not so much that people will point and laugh, and it’s the kind of handbag that will go with everything and be part of your life for years to come. I wonder why they haven’t stuck one of their little "Love this!" badges on it?

Remember the Louisiana town that banned baggy pants earlier this year, claiming they were indecent and offensive? At the time, we saluted them (because baggy pants just ain’t cool, no matter which way you look at it), but now that Atlanta is considering following suit, I’m not so sure that it’s a great idea to make actual laws about what people can and can’t wear. Sure, we talk about Crimes of Fashion all the time here, but is it really such a great idea to make certain clothes illegal?
The debate in Atlanta, of course, has nothing to do with fashion and everything to do with decency: councilman C.T. Martin, who sounds like he’d be a whole lot of fun at a party, says that baggy pants are becoming an "epidemic" and that he wants to see an end to young people walking around "half-dressed". (Apparently old people are good to walk around dressed any way they like.)
What do you think? Should the real police be allowed to arrest people for Crimes of Fashion, or should they just leave it up to Fashion Police officers, like us?

I’m going through a bit of a "stripey" phase right now. Give me something striped – especially something grey and striped – and I’m happy. These Sonia Rykiel sweaters make me happy – especially the one on the right: I love the puffed sleeves and the little heart motif, and I think it’ll look fabulous with some grey skinny jeans. I’m not quite so sold on the other one – that bow’s a little too big even for me, and there’s something a little clownish about it. I still wouldn’t say no if it were to mysteriously fetch up on my doorstep, though.

So… these are nice, aren’t they? Aren’t they? Hey! Where’d everybody go?

I know some people will take one look at this and be all "OMG, KARL! It’s KARL LAGERFELD! It’s DESIGNER! And if it’s made by KARL LAGERFELD the DESIGNER then it must totally your world!" But look, the thing is: Karl scares me. It’s something to do with that whole "Prince of Darkness" thing he’s got going on. There are good reasons why The Manolo calls him "the evil one", you know?
So, this… This is a shirt with Karl Lagerfeld’s face on it. £70 to walk around with his face on your front. Do I hear any offers? (Get it at Net-a-Porter if you must.)

I don’t think I’d have a whole lotta love for Anna Sui’s newspaper print dress even if we were to take the nature of the print out of the equation – that frilly neck and pussy bow is way too "frou frou" for my simple tastes – but let’s face it, it’s not helping much, is it? A dress that people can read – or that people might want to wrap their fish and chips in – isn’t my idea of fun, but then again, I don’t hate it enough to make it a Crime of Fashion, so I’ve decided to throw caution to winds and put it up On Trial. What do you think? Is it fun and fabulous, or do you prefer to get your reading material from actual newspapers?

I know this is far from the worst outfit we’ve seen Sienna wear, but is it just me, or does she look like a drag queen trying to do "casual" here? What’s with the feather boa? Why does she keep making her hair stick right out the top of her head, like an antenna, lately? And can we blame her for the current "high top trainers" craze, like we blamed her for Boho? Because I have issues with the high topped trainers. I say we send them back to 80s New York, where they belong – who’s with me?
