Which fashion season do you like the best?

Fashionpolicepoll

When it comes to fashion, I’m very much a "summer" girl. By that I don’t mean I’ve "had my colours done" and been told to wear peach and pastels – I just like summer, and tend to prefer summer fashions to winter ones. (This is unfortunate for me because I live in Scotland, and in Scotland? We don’t really get summer. Gah.)

My main problem with winter, unsurprisingly, is the cold. I am a very cold person. Even when I holiday in Florida, I always carry a light cardigan with me at all times because I tend to feel the cold very easily, and  when other people are frying in the heat, I’ll be privately thinking it’s a little bit chilly. For this reason, all thoughts of fashion go out the window in winter.  During the warmer months I’ll dig out my dresses and skirts, knowing I can always throw a little cardi over the top if I get too cold. I’m much more experimental with my clothes, and I get much more fun out of them.

In winter, on the other hand, it’s all about the warmth. Those fine-knit cardigans aren’t enough to keep out the winter chills, so thick sweaters come to take their place. All of my skirts and dresses become useless because while I could wear them with boots and tights, I work from home, which makes the idea of clomping around in boots all day a bit ridiculous, and I can’t stand tights.

That’s not to say I don’t like the look of tights, of course. I do. I just hate the feel of them. It’s probably something to do with my weird shape, but I find them really uncomfortable, and seem to permanently walk around with the crotch at my knees. Hold-ups are better, but normally can’t be bothered putting them on just to sit around at home.

Summer dressing is so much easier. Throw on a dress, or a skirt and vest, slip into some flip-flops or ballet flats, and you’re done. In winter it’s all so much hassle. Dresses and skirts need tights or hold-up, sweaters need vests or t-shirts to go underneath them, going out means trussing yourself up in coats and scarves and hats and gloves and boots and… you get the picture. This is why I love summer. In summer, I get to indulge my love of fashion. In winter, I’ll be the one wearing a uniform of thick jeans and all of my sweaters at the same time.  Needless to say, I’m not looking forward to Autumn…

So, which season are you? Are you a spring/summer person, like me, or an Autumn/Winter girl? Do tell…

Fall/Winter person here. I love the layers and the structured shapes. I like that any flabbiness is easily covered. I LOVE the colors and textures and fabrics. I don’t like the cold. If winter could not dip below freezing, I’d be perfectly happy.

I’m a difficult person, I guess… Partly I don’t like summer because it’s way too hot then and I can’t wear nice clothes because, well, I can’t wear clothes! I sweat easily, so I’m doomed to use black and other dark colours when it gets hotter than +16 C.
The beginnings of summer (or entirely chilly summer) and autumn would be perfect time for me. I don’t mind wearing tights and few layers of shirts. I hate very cold seasons mostly because I never seem to find clothes and boots that would look good and be warm also.
But spring I hate the most; everything looks ugly then and it smells bad. You can’t wear pretty shoes because you’ll get your feet drowned in soiled water and dog poop, you can’t wear a coat because it’s too hot and you can’t be without your coat because it’s too cold… Argh! Even winter is more bearable though it might be -25 C outside.
    Whooops! Long rant, sorry!

Got to be winter for me, I’m a tights, skirts and boots girl all the way. But then I get bored about midway through any season and want to wear clothes for the next season.

Jane and Kashmira – maybe we should swap places? You could live in winter fashions quite happily here, and I could go somewhere where there’s a chance of warm weather!
Fi – I have to admit, I get bored fast too! As much as I hate winter, now that the Autumn/Winter collections are starting to come in I’m desperate to start buying them. I think it’s been worse this year, though, ‘cos we’ve had no summer and I haven’t been able to wear all my favourite clothes :(
