What do you think of boots that pretend to be shoes?

marcjacobsboots What do you think of boots that pretend to be shoes?

OK, so these Marc by Marc Jacobs boots aren’t the most offensive example of the "boots pretending to be shoes" trend (I think the sock boots we featured last September win that title, hands down), but I have to admit that this is one of my fashion pet-hates. These boots, you see, are pretending to be a pair of ankle-strap shoes, and that, my friends, is something boots should never do. No, boots should stick to what they do best – being boots – and let shoes get on with the business of being shoes. Makes sense, no? Marc Jacobs obviously doesn’t think so, or he’d not be so keen to charge us £454 for a pair of 3/4 length boots with shoes stuck to the bottom. But forget Marc – what do you think?
