I have ample hips and a small waist and have had kids. When I wear lowrise jeans the loose skin has nowhere to go and I have no waist. People should not try to follow trends; rather, we should pick pieces that flatter our bodies the most. Many women look horrible in low rise jeans (muffin top syndrome, accentuates a flat ass, a big gap in the back if you do have a big butt...) and the solution for all those flaws I've mentioned are higher rise jeans. Maybe not everyone can pull off the super high waist like that in the picture, but for many others, it may be very flattering. It just depends on what looks good on your body. There are very few people I know who can pull them off and make them look "hip." Otherwise, they just make a weird lump in the middle of your shirt, that is...unless you actually tuck your shirt IN, which may be the intention, but that still makes me cringe. Bleh.
