Crime of Fashion: Drainpipe Corset Waist Jeans

I know it seems like I'm always being mean to Topshop these days, and that I must totally hate them or something, but I don't. Actually, I love Topshop. Most of the time. What I don't love, though, is their occassional tendency to throw caution to the wind and release a "Kate Moss would look good in it so it must be OK" item that just leaves me gasping with its flagrant disregard for good style. These jeans are a case in point. That they're drainpipes is bad enough. Skinny jeans I can accept - on some people. Drainpipes? Not so much, really. And drainpipes with a whopping great corset waist? Nuh-uh. Now, I daresay that Kate Moss could probably get away with these. (I mean, let's face it, she seems to get away with most things, doesn't she?) The question is, though, should she get away with them? Should anyone, in fact, be wearing super-high wasited drainpipe jeans and not earning the censure of their peers for it? I think not. Topshop? You're on your last warning here...
