Style Stealer: Lindsay Lohan’s Blue Dress

Lilo

Topshop finally relaunched their website today, getting rid of all of that hard-to-navigate flash and replacing it with something a whole lot more user-friendly. Also very user-friendly is the lovely Lindsay Lohan (miaow), whose blue dress in this picture is a lot like this one from Topshop, although I’d be willing to bet that LiLo here paid a good bit more than the £38 this one will set you back…

Celebrity Fancy Dress

Slebfancydress

Yes folks, it’s fashion fright night (otherwise known as "Halloween"), and the usual suspects have been going at it with gusto. Step forward Paris Hilton as a hooker, LiLo as an 80s flash dancing hooker, and Gisele as… Wait. What the hell did Gisele come as, again? We’re pretty sure she’s not a hooker, but what is that? Answers on a postcard, please. Meanwhile, Scarlett Johansson shows ‘em all how to do it – after the jump…

Christina_1

I know, I know – this isn’t a new picture of Christina, but when I first seen it I fell in love with her pretty, feminine Monique Lhuillier dress, so it would be remiss of me not to let y’all know that the same dress (albeit in green rather than blue) is currently up for sale on  eBay… This one is a size 4, and the start price is $399. Happy bidding…

Kylie Minogue Guest Edits Vogue

Kylie I love Kylie Minogue – love her. And I’ve loved Kylie long time, too – right back to 1988, when I even got myself a helllish bubble perm, in an attempt to mimick my idol. GOD. So yes, I love Kylie, but to be completely honest? I don’t love these latest pictures from Australian Vogue, which she’s just guest edited. They’re just a wee bit too severe for my liking, and also? Her right eye looks funny. Come back, Kylie, with the pretty, fluffy look we all know and love!

Dress of the Day: B With G Baby Doll Dress

Babydolldress

I have this problem with dresses. The problem is that I work from home, and most of the dresses I own feel too “dressy” (Ha! Do you see what I did there?) to be wearing around the house. A lot of the time they’re not very comfortable, either: it’s all very well to be wearing hold-ups (Because tights? Are the work of the devil. For real.) and heels at the office, but at home? Not so much. This dress is the answer to my prayers. Soft and flexible enough to slob out in, but pretty enough to be smart, I? Am loving it. And as much as I hate to say it – God, but I hate to say it – it’s also the perfect dress to wear with *whisper it* – leggings.  It’s $152 from Girlshop.

Crime of Fashion: Peep Toe Ankle Boots

Ravel_1

OK, is it just me, or does this qualify as one of the most pointless fashion items in the world EVER? It’s right up there with the sleeveless sweater/jacket, which has always puzzled me mightily, for surely if it’s cold enough to wear a thick sweater, it’s too cold for bare arms? Or do other people get cold everywhere else except their arms? Answers on a postcard, please.

But I digress. These peep toe boots fall into the same category. Cold enough to wear boots, not so cold that you don’t want to expose your toes? I don’t think so, Ravel. And also: we know you’re not Christian Louboutin. No amount of painting your soles red will fool us into thinking that you are, dudes.

Checkmate01

My apologies for the size of the picture – it was the best the website had to offer, I’m afraid, but I’m sure you’ll cope. Anyway, on the left – the fabulous Luella Bartley and her beautiful tartan dress. (It’s a measure of how very impressed I am by this dress that I loathe and detest tartan… but I still love this). On the right – Additions Direct, formerly owned by Argos. On the left, a few hundred dollars worth of dress – on the right, £35. Amazing.

Dzc51ms_1

This is the second dress that’s tempted me today. Can you tell it’s getting close to pay day? Dorothy Perkins are decribing it as an “Obi Dress” but although there is a wide band under the chest, I see no evidence of an obi sash. Still, a pretty dress and one which would look great with either boots or pumps. Boots or pumps that I just happen to have in my closet right now. Hmmm. It’s £30 from Dorothy Perkins.

Fashion Criminals: Mary Kate & Ashlee

Mkashley

No, not Ashley - Ashlee. And actually, we’re going to let Ash off here because she, at least, has an excuse for this heinous plaid jacket – she’s doing some kind of promotion for Sketchers. Mary Kate, on the other hand – oh, Mary Kate, what happened here? I mean, I have nightmares in which I’m out dressed like this – no pants, ugly workman’s shirt, straggly hair. MK, I know we sometimes use this as a figure of speech, but you literally look like you’ve been dragged through a hedge backwards here. A hedge that stole your pants.

Sienna Miller Scrubs Up Good In Marchesa

Sienna_miller

Well, praise be. We’ve had ol’ Sienna here in fashion jail for God knows how long: those skanky, scruffy dresses, the leggings, that awful print dress…GOD. But now – well, lookit how pretty she looks! Her Marchesa "dress" is actually a top – it’s from the Spring/Summer ‘07 collection, and was worn by Marchesa’s model with a pair of skinny pants underneath. Leave it to Sienna to be different, though, and actually? I think she’s getting away with it. Bravo, Ms Miller. Now, let’s put all that "boho" unpleasantness behind us, will we?
